The Cowboys lead the NFC in scoring defense 17

Keep an eye on hisgame day status.Justin Forsett at Rams Two pretty good options at running back off the waiver wire here. Hopefully the ‘Hawks hold Julius Jones out this weekend, because this is a peach for Forsett. Wide Receivers Antonio Bryant at Falcons Bryant returned from injury to face the Saints last week but was ineffective He could get back on track this weekend.Kevin Walter vs Colts At some point, Walter has to do something. How will the potential absence of Matt Stafford affect his fantasy value, though Kickers Joe Nedney vs. Jaguars Both of these offenses should move the ball with relative ease between the 20s. DSTs Panthers DST at Jets I usually stay away from defenses on the road but if Mark Sanchez is starting at quarterback for the Jets, the recent numbers speak for themselves.. This Thanksgiving, the NFC East leading Dallas Cowboys take on the Oakland Raiders in what will be a rematch from the preseason, in which the Raiders won 31-10.Unfortunately for the Raiders, unlike the preseason matchup, the Cowboys starters will be playing the full 60 minutes. That said, the Cowboys have been struggling for the past couple of weeks particularly on offense and the Raiders are fresh off a victory over the AFC South leadingCincinnati Bengals. Here are the Cowboys keys to victory over the Raiders. Continue to Run the BallOffensive coordinator Jason Garrett caught a lot of flak for not running enough in the game against the Packers, and then got it from the other side for running too much against the Redskins. The key stat from those two games The Cowboys lost to the Packers and won the Redskins game. The Raiders rank 30th in the NFL against the run, giving up an average of 157.7 yards/game.They also have two of the better coverage corners in the game, in Nnamdi Asomugha and Chris Johnson. It would make very little sense to challenge these corners when the Cowboys can just ram it down the Raiders' throat. Establish a Passing Game With Short Drops and Quick PassesThe Cowboys are really struggling with the downfield passing game. Quarterback Tony Romo has a sore back from the Redskins game, the offensive line is banged up and the receivers are dropping passes and aren't getting separation. The Raiders can watch tape of the past two Cowboys games and see that they can regularly beat the offensive tackles Flozell Adams and Doug Free with a speed rush.Garrett can help the line and Romo out by calling for quick slants and hitches. Both Miles Austin and Roy Williams are big-bodied receivers that should be able to get position. This slows the pressure to Romo and also builds Romo's confidence in the receivers, and vice-versa.If the Raiders decide to crank of the blitz like they did in the 13-9 win over the Eagles, then the Cowboys should throw in some screens that worked so well in Philly. Don't Allow Big Plays On DefenseThe Raiders are absolutely putrid on offense. They rank 20th in rushing (102.3), 32nd in passing (125), 32nd in total yards (227.3), and 32nd in points (10.6).The Cowboys lead the NFC in scoring defense (17.5), and the Raiders don't sustain drives very well. The only way the Cowboys lose this game is if the speedy receivers for the Raiders get behind the secondary and score on big plays. The Cowboys should be able to play straight up and allow the Raiders' offense to destroy itself with turnovers, penalties and lack of execution. The quarterback play from Bruce Gradkowski while better than JaMarcus Russell isn'tthreatening enough that the Cowboys need to do anything special on defense.Stopping the so-so running game and keeping the receivers in front of them should be enough to win the game. PredictionThe Cowboys will get the passing game going after establishing a solid running game, and will win easily, 30-10. .

The 123-112 win over the Indiana Pacers wasn’t a pretty one, though the first half of the game was one of the best offensively in the 15 year history of the Toronto Raptors.Indiana isn’t a defensive juggernaut by any means, and this marked the seventh game out of 12 that they have given up over a hundred. The Raptors may have scored 74 points in the first but also gave up 53 and then were outscored 59-49 in the second half. This game could have easily slipped away from them as we have seen happen in the past.Jarrett Jack brought his “A” game as expected against his old team and has been a real factor over the last three games as his comfort level on this team rises.Chris Bosh didn’t have a great game and still recorded his league leading 12th double double of the year.Thankfully, Andrea Bargnani really stepped his game up in the fourth quarter, as he was somewhat transparent for the first three. Some props should be given to veteran center Rasho Nesterovic who made 6-of-9 from the floor for 12 points in 16 minutes on the floor. Big ups! Before this game, the Raptors were 1-8 when giving up more than 100 points, now they are obviously 2-8.

Their record stands at 7-8.The question isn’t whether they can score because they are in the upper echelon of the league in this category, but when they need a stop, can they get itThe Raptors have played one of the most difficult schedules to start this season and are now just one game below .500 and are making their way into Charlotte to take on a fairly low-scoring team that can play defense.Toronto has lost both times this year when playing in back-to-back games, mind you the losses came against Dallas and Utah and were during road trips. The Bobcats are supposed to see the return of their number one center, 7’1" Tyson Chandler, who’s been nursing a sore back, for this game.Chandler is a big presence in paint, and he rebounds and blocks shots very well while adding some but not a lot of scoring. They also recently traded Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic to Golden State for scorer Stephen Jackson and guard Acie Law.Charlotte forces 14.83 turnovers, 8.33 steals per game on their home court, so the Raptors will have to play a smart game and take care of the ball. The Raptors definitely have very good chance of winning this game, but they will have to play a full 60 minutes at both ends of the court, which seems they really only accomplished once, and it was in their home opener win over Cleveland. The bench, as it has been all year, will have to continue to play well and contribute as will the starting five. The spread for this game opened up with Charlotte as a two and a half point favourite, but by the time this game starts, this number may come down.If the Raptors can get the win, which I think they should, they will move their record to .500 on the year and go on to play in Boston, Friday, riding a high and with some renewed confidence.Go Raps!. 2009 Golden Quill Call for Entries Released by The Press Club of WesternPennsylvaniaPITTSBURGH, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ The Press Club of WesternPennsylvania is calling for submissions to its 45th Golden Quill Awards, theannual competition that recognizes professional excellence in written, photographic and broadcast journalism in Western Pennsylvania.
